Q. How does temping work?
A. Once you have been in to register with Expert Recruiters, you will be added to our availability list. When an assignment comes in that matches your skills, availability and preferences, we will give you a call, run through the details and book you. You will receive an email from us confirming the job details, location and pay.

You will be required to fill in a timesheet during your assignment which will log your daily hours and breaks. The timesheet must be faxed to us by Friday at 6:00pm each week so that we can process your pay.



Q. How do I work out my payroll taxes?
A. Expert Recruiters will calculate your tax for you. When you commence working for us, we will provide you with tax forms which should be completed and returned to us as soon as possible so we can add you to our payroll. With this information your taxes will automatically be deducted from your paycheque and we will remit your taxes to the government.



Q. How do I get paid?
A. Expert Recruiters will pay you on a week by week basis. You will be asked to complete a timesheet each week which must be returned to us by 6:00pm on Friday. You will then be paid for your work the following Friday.



Q. When is my paycheque ready?
A. Paycheques will be ready as early as Tuesday, you can either pick it up or have to mailed to you. You will be asked to mark a check box on your timesheet indicating your preference.



Q. Where do I go for my assignment?
A. You will be emailed a letter of confirmation from your consultant. This letter will confirm where you should go, who you should ask for, your hours of work and your pay rate.

If you are temping for us on short notice, your consultant will run through this information with you over the phone as well as send you an email for your records.



Q. What should I wear to a temp assignment?
A. Your consultant will advise of the dress code individually tailored to your assignment. They will also provide you with a copy of our "Dress for Success" Dress Code Standards, which can also be found on our Dress for Success web page.



Q. I need to take a day off or I need to take time off for an interview. Who do I ask?
A. You should contact your consultant with any questions you have relating to your assignment. We will be able to advise you what to do next.



Q. What do I do if I am sick while on assignment?
A. You must call your consultant as soon as you know that you will be unable to make it into work that day. Your consultant will then call the company you are temping at and advise them that you are unwell and when you will return to work.



Q. Do I get paid for sick days?
A. No, temporary workers are not entitled to sick pay.



Q. Do I have to work on statutory holidays?
A. If the company you are temping for is closed on statutory holidays, you will not be required to work unless otherwise advised.



Q. Do I get paid for statutory holidays?
A. To be entitled for paid statutory holidays you must have been employed for 30 calendar days before the holiday date and have worked on 15 of the 30 days immediately before the statutory holiday.



Q. What do I do if the client I am temping for offers me a permanent job?
A. If you are temping and are offered a permanent job, then you must inform your consultant immediately. It is your consultant's responsibility to negotiate any offers or assignment extensions for you.



Q. I have lost my timesheet, where can I get another one?
A. You can download a timesheet from our login area.



Q. I am available for work but I haven't heard from my consultant. What should I do?
A. Our consultants are very busy. If you are available for work and haven't heard from us in a little while, it is always worth emailing or calling your consultant to let them know you are available for work.

If you were looking for temp work that is very specific and you haven't heard from us, maybe you should reconsider dropping your minimum salary requirements, extending the areas you wish to commute to, etc.



Q. I have registered for temporary work but I am also looking for a permanent position. Will I be considered for permanent roles too?
A. If you have indicated to us that you are looking for both temporary and permanent work, you will be automatically considered for both types of work.



FAQ's for Permanent Candidates

Q. Does it cost money to register with Expert Recruiters?
A. No. Our fees are paid by the companies that have engaged us to find them employees. It is illegal for any employment agency to charge for its placement services.



Q. How do I submit my resume to Expert Recruiters?
A. You may email us: jobs@expertrecruiters.com , or if you don't have email access you may fax us your resume: 604-689-7541.



Q. I have submitted my resume to you. When can I expect a response?
A. When you send your resume to Expert Recruiters they are reviewed and entered into our database within 3 business days. If you are short-listed for an active role we are recruiting for, we will contact you within 5 business days.

If you are not short-listed, rest assured that your resume is entered into our database, and you will be considered for future roles.



Q. How long will it take Expert Recruiters to find me a job?
A. Expert Recruiters can represent you to many of our clients but ultimately the client chooses their new employee. Therefore we cannot make an estimate on time frames.



Q. Do I have to test?
A. Yes. If Expert Recruiters is to accurately represent you, we need the best assessment of your skills so we can find you the most appropriate position. Once you have registered and tested with us, you may wish to improve your skills; Expert Recruiters offers free tutorials to help you become more proficient.



Q. Once I have completed my testing, will I receive a copy of my results?
A. Yes, we will provide you with a copy of your results as a record of your skills; it may save you time for future interviews.



Q. Once I have met with a consultant, is this the only interview I will need to attend?
A. If we are helping you find permanent work, you will be required to meet with our clients if you are short-listed for interviews.



Q. Will you call my present employers for a reference?
A. Absolutely not. We will never compromise your current employment situation.



Q. Will my application be confidential?
A. Yes. We will only release your information and profile to those companies for which we have provided the company name and obtained your permission.



Q. How long will my application be kept on file?
A. Your application will be kept on file until we find you a job, or until you advise us to remove you from our database.



Q. If I see a posting on your website that I want to be considered for and I am already registered with Expert Recruiters, how do I apply?
A. Simply drop your consultant an email and tell them the reference number of the posting you are interested in; we will then be able to consider you for the position.



Q. If I am unsuccessful for the role I originally applied for, will I be considered for other positions?
A. Of course. If you happen to unsuccessful in gaining a position we have submitted you for, we will certainly consider you for future roles.
